Every so often, an opportunity presents itself to work as part of a team to deliver a large and exciting civil engineering project on the South Coast that really makes a difference. Working on this project is one of those opportunities

My client is delivering works, as part of a collaborative team to deliver a £500m civil engineering project near Portsmouth over the next 5 years, and they are now recruiting for a site-based Quality Manager. The Quality Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all works are delivered in accordance with the scope of works, specifications, and relevant legislation and industry standards.

You will have a proactive approach to improving and maintaining quality standards on site and will lead a team to develop, maintain, and implement appropriate quality assurance documentation across design, procurement, and construction activities to ensure consistent and transparent compliance.

Responsibilities include;
• Develop, maintain and implement quality assurance documentation across all areas of the projects, including design, procurement & construction to ensure compliance
• Manage the internal quality team
• Take responsibility for the Project Quality Plan; reviewing, updating and maintaining
• Create project specific quality system procedures
• Manage the ITP’s (Inspection and Test Plans), ensuring works are completed in line with the design
• Monthly reporting to the client, on areas including quality, audits, inspections & tests and any non-conformances to include actions taken
• Manage and maintain quality inspection checklists, regularly reviewing to ensure any areas of non-conformances are identified and corrected
• Liaise with the designers, client and client’s representatives
• Perform regular design reviews to ensure they are designed to the required quality
• Work to improve the quality of work on site by working with the management and engineering team delivering the works
• Ensure compliance with Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016
• Carry out second party and internal audits in accordance with ISO 19011

Essential experience:
• Knowledge of construction techniques
• Experience of large, complex construction projects
• Good understanding of Quality Management Systems to ISO 9001
• Producing ITP’s
• Record keeping

Desirable experience:
• Previously worked on a joint venture
• A background within water and/or civil engineering projects

Qualifications/Training:
• HNC in Construction Management, Engineering or an industry-related discipline
• Lead Auditor to ISO 9001
• Full driving licence
• CSCS
• IT / Software: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, SharePoint and PowerPoint
